Seppo Kerkelä is a Finnish photographer based in Vaasa, on the west coast of Finland. After a career as a rock musician, photography gradually became his primary creative language—a way to express the same emotions through light, landscapes, and quiet moments instead of music. His greatest passion is landscape photography, particularly the unique light of the Nordic nights. Drawn to remote coastlines, fells, and Arctic wilderness, he often returns to the same locations repeatedly, waiting for the precise combination of weather, light, and atmosphere that transforms a familiar place into something extraordinary. "I rarely visit a landscape hoping to find a photograph. More often, I return because I already know the image the place is capable of giving—if light, weather, and time decide to cooperate." This philosophy defines his work. Rather than chasing dramatic scenes, he believes that the strongest photographs are created through patience, preparation, and an intimate understanding of a place. Alongside landscape photography, Seppo also works in wildlife and commercial product photography, often combining products with the authentic scenery of Northern Finland and Arctic Norway. Outside photography, he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, whose curiosity and sense of adventure continue to inspire him. His work has received recognition in several international photography competitions, and he continues to explore the Nordic wilderness in search of images that celebrate the quiet beauty of nature.
