About Artist
Lydia Argilli
My photography explores food beyond its familiar role as something to eat. I am drawn to still life and conceptual photography, using food, botanical forms and everyday materials as visual elements to explore shape, texture, light, colour and unexpected relationships. With a background in nutrition and a long-standing connection to cooking and baking, I approach food from both inside and outside: as something deeply familiar, but also as a material with its own visual language. I am particularly interested in transforming ordinary ingredients into quiet, carefully constructed images that invite a second look. Based in Siegen, Germany, I work at the intersection of food, still life and visual storytelling. My images range from minimalist studies of natural forms to more conceptual compositions in which food becomes an object, a structure or a starting point for a larger idea. Natural light, shadow, geometry and close observation are central elements of my visual approach. My work has received recognition in international photography competitions, including 3rd Place in the Food & Beverage category at the International Photography Awards (IPA) 2026. I continue to develop my personal photographic language through fine-art and conceptual still life, while exploring the space where food photography meets contemporary visual storytelling. My portfolio brings together these personal explorations alongside selected editorial and commercial work, reflecting my interest in food not only as a subject, but as a visual language.
