Liberty Glimpsed

This Statue of Liberty view from an abandoned portion of Ellis Island is both portrait of a place and testament to human hope. Ellis Island, where architecture and memory meet; once a gateway to a new life for millions, this island now holds quiet echos of their hopes, fears and resilience.

About Artist

Kevin Bartlett

Kevin Bartlett left the United States' East Coast and moved West in 1996. This is where Kevin’s interest in photography blossomed. Attending classes at a local junior college provided the basics and, with his first “real” camera - a Nikon D90 - Kevin was off and running, constantly learning and exploring his art. Kevin’s work straddles both contemporary realism and a fascination with capturing and displaying movement. Kevin’s work has been accepted by numerous art calls throughout the United States. He has twice received Northwest New Mexico Arts Council’s Choice Award. As a result of participation in Farmington, NM Museum’s Gateway to the Imagination National Juried Art Show, Kevin’s work is now a part of this Museum’s permanent collection. Kevin’s artwork received best in show recognition by Aurora Artist Guild in their 29th Annual Gateway to the Rockies Art Show in Aurora, CO (2024). Recently, Kevin received 1839 Awards' Bronze recognition for artwork submitted to 1839's 2025 Colour Photography Contest. Photographic artworks displayed in: Farmington, NM Durango, CO Aurora, CO Billings, MT Brooklyn, NY New Orleans, LA New York City, NY Cheyenne, WY
