About Artist
Adriana Trevino
Her photographic work delves into the flower as a symbol of the social constructs surrounding femininity, drawing inspiration from myths and origin stories embedded in the collective psyche. Through the flower as her central subject, her still lifes transform into metaphors that narrate deeply personal experiences. Her latest series reflects on colonial processes of domination through the systematic cataloging of flora in New Spain. She is part of Juan Cano 68, a program by Patricia Conde Galería supporting emerging artists, with whom she has exhibited internationally in London, Berlin, and Valladolid, as well as nationally in shows such as As Above, So Below (2022) and Of Wild and Splendid Light (2023). Her work has been selected by the FAMA committee (2021 and 2022), Conarte NL during the Nuevo León State Photography Review (2022), and Arte Vivo for the exhibition and auction at the Rufino Tamayo Museum (2022). She has also been featured in a group exhibition during PhotoEspaña 2022 and held a solo exhibition at PhotoEspaña 2023. Additionally, she participated in Salón ACME No. 10 as part of the Guest Projects section with Patricia Conde Galería. Her academic research has been published in Spain (Plaza y Valdés, 2014). Recently, she was selected for the new series of covers for the Elena Poniatowska Library by Seix Barral, fostering a dialogue between Mexican women photographers and the celebrated author's work.
