Epoché

I work within states of suspension—those liminal moments when identity loosens and perception sharpens. Moving between places, I use photography and moving image to practice epoché: holding the world gently in uncertainty, allowing new forms of presence to emerge.

About Artist

Cleo Yao

Cleo Yao is a multidisciplinary visual artist working across photography, video, and installation. She holds dual degrees in Photography (BFA) and Art History (BA) from New York University. Her practice moves fluidly through different places and moments of travel, exploring perception, displacement, and the fragile sense of being in the world. Through the process of image-making, she examines how emotion, light, and spatial rhythm shape a bodily experience of presence. For Yao, photography is not a form of representation but a way of inhabiting—an act of sensing, existing, and becoming within uncertainty.
